DMI Sponsorship Program

Without the help of Deaf Ministries International through its schools,
dormitories and centeres, many needy children in Asia and Africa would be
without hope and a future. $30AUD a month helps provide education, Christian
and moral training, and food and clothing. In many developing countries deaf
children are often unable to access these services. Many come from rural areas
or from extremely poor families who are unable to afford the special
requirements of a child with a hearing impairment. Will you join the team? Your
sponsorship will mean so much to a needy deaf child.

In developing countries early diagnosis of hearing impairment is not common.
Many children reach teenage years before they begin their education. This means
that many older children can be found at primary levels. By sponsoring a deaf
teenager you are providing an opportunity for these students to gain a basic
education. These students often help to look after younger children in
dormitory or school settings.

Due to the late diagnosis of a hearing impairment in many of our young adults,
most of them are well past the age when we would have expected them to have
left school. An important part of our work is to train students in job skills
and then to try to find them positions using their skills. This enablers our
young people to make a valuable contribution to the welfare of their families
and communities. For example: on farms, in our rice mill, or in ear mould
making.

By becoming a DMI sponsor, you are a vital link in educating deaf children in
developing countries. You are also helping us to evangelise deaf communities
and establish deaf churches where some of these students may one day become
leaders.
