Lill at that time was a missionary with the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church of Norway and was specifically involved in child evangelism. Neville was a teacher of the deaf from Melbourne Australia working as a teacher in Japan. They met in Osaka and were married in Kyoto. (It wasn't quite that simple!) Following a time at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland Oregon they moved to Korea with their first born son, Brent, in 1978 under the ministry of World Opportunities International, now Deaf ministries International. Neville and Lill saw 3 more children born in Korea before they moved back to Japan in 1991 due to schooling difficulties. During the Korean years 14 churches were established in Korea and the ministry extended to the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Kenya and Uganda. Following the move back to Japan the work continued to grow and is now operating in Myanmar, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. More recently the work has amalgamaed with the ministry of Dewayne and Jackie Liebrandt in Thailand. Currently the Muirs are living in Australia touching base with supporters there and formalizing the new home base for DMI in Melbourne. Brent, Erik and David are all at Monash University and Ian attends Hillcrest Christian College where his needs are being met. Neville and Lill are seeking the Lord's will as to their location, but because of pressing needs, they are based in Australia for the time being. Neville and Lill were the founders of Deaf Ministries International and Neville serves as the International Director.
